wow.. we just had the most spontaneous gathering at the house! :o) it all started out when i came home at 7pm.. to an empty house :(* and then john came home! yay! the two of us ate some dinner and then played a little mario tennis and then.. fiona came over! double yay! (i hadn't seen her in a long time.. too long fi :(* but it was really cool chatting again! and she got to see the cool *paparazzi-style* pictures we took of yiyin and greg in la :o) haha.. AND i found out she's a blog reader! yay! hi fi! haha..) and THEN.. it turns out that yiyin, greg and dan were in union city eating dinner and so then they came over too! quad-billion yays!! :o) the crowd goes wild!!! whoooooooooooooo-hoooo :o) (btw.. john just walked in the room and said "nonsense, sheer nonsense" in a very serious tone! hehehe.. if he only knew how right he was!) so then we were kind of doing the house tour/talking thing and then josh and nancy came home too! :o) so in the end, it was a really unexpected and unpredicable gathering of crossroaders former and present.. i mean, who knows when that entire group will ever gather together again (maybe not till heaven!) .. and i had thought that the night would be pretty quiet and low key :o) shows how much i know! :o)

i just got back from a goodbye-from-my-intel-coworkers dim sum lunch :o) muuuuy yummmy! :o) hehe.. i have a good piece of dim sum eating advice though... i think there is a general tendency (and many groups that i've eaten dim sum with have exhibited this tendency) to order a lot of dishes in the beginning.. yes yes, i know that oftentimes we've been waiting up to like an hour to get the table and we're starved, but i think ordering a bit slower would make the whole experience a) last a lot longer! hahaha.. although i guess what usually ends up happenning is that we stuff ourselves and then chat over tea :o) and b) make the food taste better because you can savor each item and eat it while it's still hot (dim sum foods, especially the steamed kind, can get kind of dry when it's cooled off!) hehe.. and c) i hope this ordering-dim-sum-dishes-slowly/eating-dim-sum-slowly catches on because i too want to be a trendsetter :o) just kidding!! haha.. c) is really a minute point :o)

and a really great verse from Daniel ....
"We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy." ~end of Daniel 9:18~

the fact that the God of the whole world hears our individual little cries out to him.. wow, if you think about it, it's just really amazing :o)

hey everyone! it's 10am of my last morning at work .. already, my cube is squeaky clean and almost all already loaded into my car (i use the term "loaded into my car" kind of loosely.. it was more like i carried out the two posters and a binder of stuff that survived my mad recycling-fest yesterday afternoon :o) hahaha..) i just have a document to read over and edit today, plus a dim sum lunch with my coworkers to look forward to, so all in all, it's looking like a really chill day :o)

oooh but randomest of randoms.. yesterday night, i was wandering around borders :o) <-- no, i guess that part really isn't THAT random for me huh! haha.. but yeah, i ran into melissa lo and her boyfriend david! this is really random since they live in berkeley, had gone to the china/usa basketball game at the colliseum and then decided to "swing by" the union city borders! haha.. what a coincidence! and i just saw her right as i was about to exit the store! :o) it was really cool! :o) we chatted it up a bit and then all sat back down at the cafe and browsed through books (apparently they're bookstore junkies too! :o) hehe..) yeah, melissa was in my small group for like 3 years while i was in crossroads, so it was super cool seeing that she was doing well and apparently really re-committed to her home church in mountainview (committed enough to make that 1.5 hour drive each sunday morning from berkeley!!) so now we're talking about possibly meeting up again as a former small group just to keep each other accountable and support each other through the upcoming transitions .. yup yup so lots of exciting things coming up :o) running into her was totally such an unexpected blessing :o)

ooooh by the way, i've developed a new stay-awake strategy for my morning commute... for those of you who don't know, i have a really really bad habit of being super sleepy during my morning commute.. in fact, i've had too many close calls for my own liking!! toooooooo many! ack! :( but yesterday evening and this morning, i've been listening to tapes from the asian american women's conference last spring (which i had to miss due to a final!) yup yup, i borrowed the tapes from jenny a while back, intending to listen to them during my commute, but i had never listened to them, mostly because i had always thought that i'd be too tired to focus on the messages! but AU CONTRAIRE JENN!! i find out that having something interesting to listen to (much like having a friend like one of you sitting in my car talking to me!) is actually *just-waht-the-doctor-ordered* (i.e. were i to go to a doctor for a problem like this which i wouldn't because i like to get better on my own! hehe..) okay just wanted to share for others who may have similar struggles to stay awake!! (although carson thinks that listening to sermon style tapes would make it even WORSE for him..haha.. but to each their own :o)

hey everyone! it's like almost my last day at work.. actually, my third-to-last day to be exact :o) and i have almost nothing to do.. correction, i literally had nothing to do this afternoon! so i'm starting to do random tasks like clean out my cube, read/write emails, fill out loan paperwork for the stanford financial aid office, you know, the usual stuff that intel employees do..... ... NOT! :o) hehehe.. i guess it's an almost-termination kind of syndrome because almost any real task would take more than just the day i have left (considering time already committed to meetings and the like) and so they just allow me to putz putz around and update my blog!! :o)

actually, i have a pretty sad notice to give everyone... i think that after this monday (august 26th), this blog will become inactivated... yeah, for two weeks, i'll be in china/taiwan where i believe i'll have limited access/time on the internet (plus, judging from the internet connection rates last time i was there, it would take me much longer to update the blog there than it does here! hehe..) and then after that, i'll be in school again and i think i won't have the luxury of time to ramble on and on about myself as i do these days! :( it's kind of sad, but i wanted to be fair to blog readers everywhere and be really clear about it and not just drift in and out of blog existence (this way, you won't ever have to check back after august 26th to see IF i posted and find nothing MOST of the time, etc..) ummmmmm.. but, how about this too? if i know you are a blog reader and interested in future jenn-weblogs, i'll let you know if i ever decide to resume my bloggish ways :o) hehe..

but don't get sad yet... there are still 5 more blog posting days to come!!! :o)

it's time to say goodbye... :(* i feel like i've said goodbye to sooo many people lately! just yesterday, i dropped allen off at the airport, had a bon-voyage dinner for amy chang, and saw shelley for the last time before she left for pittsburg! i guess the soundtrack of my days has been that "time to say goodbye" song... kinda sad though!

well, the thing is, it's sad saying goodbye and all (for sure!) but the whole pre-goodbye, goodbye PARTY part is always really enjoyable.. :o) haha.. ironically.. :o) on saturday, my chicago crew (alvin, shelley, francis, ian, allen and jimmy) and some *special friends* (ed, carson, jasia and diana) had a cool bonfire on ocean beach! :o) haha we didn't have enough wood, so it was only *roaring* for a short portion of the time we were out there (and kind of a warm mass of glowing embers the rest of the time.. hehe..) but it was just fun chilling and talking and roasting marshmallows and eating enormous amounts of food... we spent like literally 100+ dollars on food for that night! crazy :o) allen, ian and carson were saying how the 20 some sausages we bought could be a "snack" but we needed more "real food"! dang! guys are monsters aren't they?!? haha...

oh and even BEFORE the bonfire, some of us (all except for ian, di, jimmy and jasia) played a game of basketball :o) haha.. umm.. yeah, i'm not really a baller so to speak :o) pretty much, i can't handle people "defending" me :o) like someone being all in my face whenever i get the ball (umm.. good "defense" annie! heheh.. seriously, you broke me down!) would cause me to panic, freak out and just in general be pretty darn incompetent :o) haha.. but, it was really fun, and the guys are really good players and fun to watch :o) we were joined by two little kids too.. one of which was kind of mean! yeah.. he beat up on some of us (i don't think his punches really hurt but still, the concept/principle is just wrong!) and called us names.. gosh, it really bothered me because i wished that i could like *do* something for him to change him around you know? but i guess you need to have a relationship of SOME kind before you can start trying to change people :o) the other kid was really nice though.. i don't really see why they're friend since the kind of meaner kid seems to bully around the nice kid.. and i hope, reallllly reallly hope, that the nicer kid doesn't grow up to be mean as a defense mechanism or anything.. you know? like i always want to have kids, but i think i realized a lot that afternoon about how much responsibility it is to be a parent over a whole young LIFE you know? :o) like wow.. yeah, i need some time before i can handle that whole package... beyond the holding-the-cute-baby, there's an awful lot at stake! :o)

yeah.. and the dinner yesterday night for amy was really funny.. like i just mostly sat there and ate and laughed (i don't feel like i even had to say anything, the conversation was kept loud and funny and just.. going .. the whole time) and laughed and laughed :o) somehow, even at the point when we were saying goodbye, i still felt like i was going to see her again before she leaves, but thinking about it, i'm not so sure anymore! (also kind of sad..)

goooooodbye shelley, amy and allen!! you'll be missed :(* and we better keep in touch! else .. i'll have to *threatening words and gestures go here* hehe.. :o)

i just ate my lunch... a peanut butter and jelly sandwich :o) my staple food of choice these days! john and i were just talking last night about how very very good pbj's are :o) i had kind of taken a long hiatus from them for a while (don't know why i did that!) but coming back this summer, i've just become used to my perfect-balance-of-sweet-and-salty lunch :o) for those of you who tuned in to the animal cracker craze a while back, i know that i once said very similar word-o-praise about animal crackers too, but i'm pretty much over that ... (with a dismissive head toss..)

haha.. okay, i'll be honest, the vending machine guy stopped stocking animal crackers, on like --literally!-- every vending machine of every floor of my building! and i've been literally FORCED to accept that i can't take animal cracker breaks anymore :o) so, in a last ditch attempt to maintain some figment of my dignity, i'm claiming to be "pretty much over" the crackers.. (hands shaking because they aren't clutching giraffe-shaped cracker) j/k!

oooooooh but on a more positive *yay-jenn!* kind of thought... i wore socks and sneakers to work today :o) my feet feel totally toasty and i can almost feeeeeel them smiling up at me for taking care of them today :o)

sometimes i think i'm a little ... slooooow :(

haha.. i guess that sounds pretty down on myself huh! well, to assure you, i'm not like depressed or anything, but to explain, i was just sitting in my cube and i reach for my water bottle (something that those of you who know me know that i do like every other moment or something!) but .. this time was a little different .. instead of pouring the water into my mouth and drinking it, i poured it all over my face and keyboard! umm.. and then i ran, drippingly, to the bathroom to get paper towels to clean up the water madness in my cube :o) ahh.. nothing like a little quick sprint-through-the-office to get the day started off right :o) hahaha..

good morning :o) just taking a little break while i wait for a program to (hopefully!) compile hehe.. :o) my feet are realllllly cold.. this always happens to me here :( and leads to me sitting around indian style, or with my feet tucked under me, most of the time in my cube .. haha, i think that that's kind of ghetto but whatever works right? :o)

again, it's been a while since i've posted to this blog! i guess it's really a sign of me being more busy at work these days and not having the time to just sit down and jot down my bloggish thoughts :o)

well... the most pressing thought on my mind is just how much pain i'm in! hahaha.. i just walked to get something from my car (which is in the intel parking garage) and bring it back to the building, and literally, i felt like my legs were going to fall off from the sheer pain! *wince* hmmm ... for those of you who are wondering why i'm in so much pain (and literally, this is the third time i've used the word "pain" in relatively few lines of this blog so far!) i went on a backpacking trip in yosemite this weekend with allen and shelley and ed ... and, over the course of two days, we walked (or should i say trekked!) 19.9 miles of the beautiful yosemite hiking trails! i know what you must be thinking... when the total was calculated at 19.9 miles, i was incredulous myself! :o) in fact, the whole trip is kind of an *experience-i've-never-had-before* kind of a thing.. pretty much living out of what we could carry on our backs, becoming as dirty and sticky as i've ever been and never wanted to be! and doing something really physically challenging.. which i've tended to avoid lately :o) haha so the conclusion that i've reached is that it was definitely fun and something i'm glad that i did, but probably won't be hankering to repeat for a while... after i get the use of my legs back and then some :o)

hehe okie dokie.. gotta get back to work :o) will be trying to post a bit more consistently again before taking off for my world travels (sounds so exotic eh? hehe.. stay tuned for what uncharted lands i'm off to conquer! j/k :o)

hi hi :o) i was writing in my journal journal earlier (the one that isn't made public on the internet! haha..) and the whole STYLE of it was *as if* i was writing in my blog ... i guess the whole style thing gets to be a habit and it's hard to break! :o) so yeah.. i just figured that i'd type some of it up here since this is really where it should go :o) that is, this is where it should go if i were to try to compusively organize all my documented thoughts.. and i'm not *that* crazy :o) although the fact that i'm copying from my journal into my blog does seem to support the compulsive tendencies... ah well whatevers! :o)

*literal extract from my journal ... *
Giants versus Cobs game last night was really fun -- I guess high scoring games are supposedly a defensive failure, but it makes it so much more exciting! hehe -- if Barry Bonds had hit his 600th home run (rather than being intentionally walked -- booing was soooo loud from the crowds at that point!) wow-- the crowd would have gone berserk! I fogot my cubs hat at home when i left for work (i started the day intending to be a cubs fan) but when i got to pacbell park, i just suddenly felt inspired to be a giants fan (if you can't tell, my loyalties to baseball teams is VERY intense! :o) tehe..)

*continuing on ...* (i stopped there in the journal, but i'll expound more for you guys :o) *wink*)
it was also cool because the two allens finally got to meet :o) i took a photo of the momentous occasion of course! :o) in fact, one allen being a big big cubs fan and one allen being a big big giants fan only added to the general fun and exciting bantering of the night :o) haha.. and the row of little kids behind us yelling "cubs suck" at allen (chu) was pretty entertaining too! :o) hehe.. i drove up to sf with allen (hsiau) which was cool because i got to chat it up with him and look at his pictures from taiwan! (welcome back allen! :o) hehe.. allen who *claims* to have not gone on loveboat.. j/k! ooh and for angel and helen... allen had a jay chou cd in his car too! it's like everywhere i look these days!) but okie dokie... so to sum it all up, i had a really great time! :o) it was cool seeing alvin and jimmy again, as always.. and in general, i just love live baseball games (it's REALLY a whole world of difference from the shown-on-television version!) there's the excitement of possibly-catching-a-fly-ball.. although where we were sitting, it'd have to be a REALLY REALLLY deep foul ball! but allen (hsiau) still had his glove anyways :o) and the standing ovations at home runs! and the booing of bad sportsmanship (we saw a guy get kicked out of the game for talking smack to a ref! i couldn't HEAR it, but i imagine it MUST have been smack to get him kicked out right? :o) hehe..) sipping hot chocolate because it was a freezing night!! and singing "take me out to the ball game" at the 7th inning stretch.. :o) mmmm... doesn't that make you want to run out to the next game as soon as you can?!?! quickly quickly! the giants play again tonight! :o) just kidding... but still, definitely some goood times good times :o)

haha... i am feeling pretty jittery though (another post steroid side effect) .. like i'm so hyper and awake and NOT sleepy.. dang it! :o) i wanted a good night's rest too... :o)

sooo i figured i'd type a summary of my trip to la this past weekend! :o) i drove down friday in jenny lan's car with jenny and amy chang .. we kinda got caught is unusually sluggish 5-traffic and didn't end up getting to la until pretty far into the evening (stopped off at mickey-d's not once, but twice! haha.. big fans, we are! <-- another yoda like phrase! hehe..) we met up with sharlene and elaine wu (don't know why i keep using the full names! haha..) at universal city walk (which is a reallly happenin' place that i've never been to!) and did some shopping/catching up/walking around and such.. i felt really bad because i bought this purse that shar really liked herself (she couldn't buy it though since she signed a no-purse-purchasing agreement with her dad recently!) well, i mean, it's really cute and i like it lots but she like.. REALLY loved it :o) so.. in a bestofbothworlds kind of agreement, she used it during the weekend and i kept it.. kinda like we both had one or something! :o) we spent the night at elaine's legendary house ... which was really pretty (her mom decorates real swell-ly!) and really as nice as everyone says :o) haha.. and then saturday was our big day-in-la! we spent the morning shopping at fashion island and grabbed lunch there too... it was the most odd combination of food groups! we had a really rich spinach and cheese dip, followed by a normal sausage pizza and a thai pizza, followed by a trio of creme brulees... umm.. yeah, some of us had kinda odd stomachs that afternoon after that killer combination!! :o) umm... okay, so after lunch, we met up with shar again (wearing *our* cute purse of course!) and went to manhattan beach... we caught the volleyball championships there and walked along the beach (i really like sand/wading in the ocean! :o) hehe.. so.. fun and like refreshing! kinda like that song "i hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean..." that kinda childhood-memory feeling :o) hehe..) then we shopped a bit on the streets near the beach, got some ice cream and did more shopping at 3rd street promenade (hemmmm.. there was kinda of a shopping theme to the day! haha.. it's real fun shopping in la though! every plaza place is like really distinctive and cool and has other stuff HAPPENNING there too.. like performers, or a beach! or like really nice and uncommon shops! :o) after shopping, we met up with jonathan and frances who had just driven down that day, and grabbed dinner at shiao may's in monterey park... yummy chinese food and REALLY cheap boba drinks! how cool is that?! :o) the next morning we went to worship service at new song community church .. such a great worship team! they did an awesome leading of tim hughes' song.. "so i'll set my sights upon You, set my life upon Your praise.. never looking to another way.. Father... You alone will be my passion, Jesus, You wil be my song.. You will find me longing after You.. " :o) i love that song! :o) and then this one guy sang the Surrender song with sooooo much heart (and such a gifted/blessed voice too!) "I surrender, all to You, all to You.." :o) and then we had a quasi reunion over dimsum! :o) haha.. it was supposed to be everyone mentioned above, plus jane lok and angela and christine tseng and i don't even remember who else.. :o) but it didn't really all work out as planned! :o) haha.. big groups are really hard to coordinate! :o) umm.. yeah, but edena was able to find us and join us though which was cool (she likes the same bbq pork buns that i like so that was cool.. random, that's definitely not the main reason why i was glad she joined us but yeah, the first one that popped to mind for some reason! haha..) i think that i have kind of food focus sometimes.. i once heard someone say that, since christians can't get drunk or smoke or sleep around or whatever, that all we do is eat! haha.. i don't think that's the main difference (i hope not! that's kinda not why i'm a christian for sure.. haha.. just to eat more! :o) j/k!) but an interesting point.. :o) someone should investigate any possible correlation betwee christian faith and weight gain.. haha.. on the other hand, christians should exhibit more self control, including with food right? so maybe it all balances out in the end.. ah well, who really knows and yeah.. anyways, i'm far off topic! hahahaha...

sooo yeah.. to make a long tangent short :o) that was the end of our trip... we dropped off france's car at her house and met her mom :o) and then the four of us (amy jenny france and i) drove back home... speaking of which, jenny's camry get's AMAZING mileage! we made it down and up.. each trip taking only a lil more than half a tank of gas! :o) sooooperb.. :o) (small toyota ad there.. haha i won'der if i'll get commission from them for that? psych... :o)

okie dokie.. i need to calm down.. and get sleepy :o) laters lovely blog readers... :o) *waving madly because i'm feeling so hyper still!* lol.. :o)

okay... so here's the scoop :o) the doctor says that the rash is prolly an allergic reaction either to food or to medicine.. which is weird because it's sooo serious (i mean, two weeks! come on! :o) haha..) and i have absolutely NO idea where it came from (i.e. WHAT i'm allergic to..). sigh, he said that i could see if this ever happens again and "narrow down" on what i'm allergic to.. which isn't really such a tempting offer! :o) sooo .. he prescribed me steroids! haha.. not like i'm going into bodybuilding or anything (i made sure of that!) but more like anti-inflamatory and stuff which is helping i think! :o) yay! or ya-ya! (haha.. for those who have seen divine secrets of the yaya sisterhood.. :o) ooooh and *funniest thing!* the doctor was cynthia's brother!!! i thought so.. he looked SOO much like her and like he kinda talked/laughed like her too.. i didn't bring it up in the doctor's office though of course, i thought that'd be kinda awkward! :o) but i called later and confirmation was obtained so yeah.. that was REALLY random and funny :o) haha.. haha.. :o) oooh i was warned a *rare* side-effect of the medicine is psychotic behavior (haha.. *very* rare, i've been assured..) so just in case you see any strange behavior, it may be your duty as a friend and good-neighbor to grab the bottle of pills out of my psychotic grip :o) hahaha.. hopefully that'll never happen! :o)

hi all! :o) i know i know.. it's been a while since my last post (it was a whole MONTH ago! hahaha..)

but, as a quick summary, i just got back from a weekend in la! :o) yup yup, i just took a road trip this past weekend with a bunch of lsf girls to visit more lsf/former crossraods girls :o) oh, and jonathon (only guy there... he handled it real well i thought! props to you :o) hehe..) i'll write more about that later of course....

i'm actually leaving work in an hour (around 3:30) cuz i got myself a doctor's appointment! yup yup, remember that rash i've been talking about for the past two weeks (that's quite some time for a rash, i think!) .. yeah, i'm going to go try to do something about it! :o) hopefully the results will be optimistic.. not like, "your skin will fall off in 2 more weeks" or something dreadfully dreary like that! :o) *fingers crossed* .. please pray for me.. despite all my seemingly-confident jokes, i'm actually pretty worried.. :o) mucho thanks! :o) will keep you updated! :o)
